Highlights from the screening of Dance for All People at the Warren Alpert Medical School.

The micro-documentary "Dance for All People... a medicine and movement duet" is an exploration into the healing properties of dance and medicine when people and practices work together. It is evidence that aging can be vibrant. The documentary follows members of the DAPpers (Dance for All People) in a season of healing, learning, moving, and building community. Through captivating footage of class, personal interviews, and public performances, viewers witness the camaraderie built among an intergenerational group of people. Under the leadership of founder and director Rachel Balaban, DAPpers models a form of care that extends beyond clinical spaces. The film also centers the voices of medical students whose participation reveals how engagement with the arts informs their evolving approach to patient care. The work of the filmmaker, Deanna Camputoro, is a testament to why the arts are such an important partner in the health field.

The Medical Humanities Initiative hosted the first public screening of the documentary at the Warren Alpert Medical School, accompanied by a gallery of photographs from the project. The screening sparked a thoughtful discussion among students, faculty, and community members about aging, embodiment, and supporting creativity in clinical spaces.
