Students join Alexandra Poterack, Director of Museum Academic Programming, on a visit to the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) Museum to observe and discuss works of art together. During the visit, students engaged in reflective conversations about how different pieces evoke emotion, empathy, and curiosity. Through guided dialogue, students explore how visual observation and interpretation can deepen their understanding of patient perspectives and foster more compassionate clinical care. Poterack has experience guiding medical students, residents, and attending physicians thorough workshops at the museum. The session offers an opportunity to connect the visual arts with medicine, encouraging students to consider how art can inform their growth as future physicians and healers.
